Istanbul is an exciting, vibrant city and the only one in the
world to be located on two continents "Europe and Asia" joined by the
narrow strait of the Bosphorus. It is
unique, a place which everyone should visit at least once in their
lifetime. Its fascinating blend of Eastern and Western influences and
its rich history and culture make for an enthralling stay.
Most of the famous historic sites - Topkapi Palace, the
Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya - are all within walking distance of each other,
so it is very easy
to pack a lot of exploring into a short time. A cruise along the
Bosphorus is not to be missed, passing Sultan’s palaces and Crusader
castles along the way.
If you like shopping, Istanbul is paradise, with the
Grand Bazaar alone housing thousands of shops under the same roof.
Silver and gold jewellery, the famous carpets, leather and textiles are
all good buys. The cost of eating and drinking is low and favourable
exchange rates mean that you can be a Full for just over £5!
There are some excellent restaurants catering for all
tastes and budgets and plenty of nightlife ranging from an evening in a
relaxed bar or a cool nightclub, to a night of traditional Turkish
entertainment admiring the art of bellydancing. Transfer time approx. 45
